Freehold in Dubai
As the Owner of a freehold property, you are the absolute owner of the buildings and the land they are on for the duration of your life. You have the right to sell the property or to pass it onto somebody in your will.
When selling a property during the construction period there is an assignment charge to take in to consideration, this is normally paid by the seller to the developer to transfer ownership. The assignment charge varies from one developer to another. Some developers also include a clause whereby the seller has to obtain consent from the developer to sell the property; again this is normally during the construction period.
Even the owner of a freehold property is the absolute owner of the buildings and the land, the owner must still abide by any laws and regulations that affect the property. As an example there may be restrictions which prevent the owner from painting the exterior of their home a different colour. You may also be required to use only approved service companies (i.e. Satellite Installation, Telecoms and Maintenance).
